I'm concerned that the reference you cited was not for his problem.
He asked: "...I have to depress the shiftlock release everytime to shift out of park. I removed and cleaned/adjusted neutral safety switch - no change. I am wondering what else is in the shiftlock "control loop". Should I be looking at the mechanism that is on the shifter. Can I disable it? The only thing I care about not happen is the starter turning when the car is in gear and the neutral safety switch controls that - right? Is there something that senses if my foot is on the brake (that is my guess)?..."
I don't think he understands what information he needs. It is not the neutral safety switch that's giving him the problem he describes, but rather the shift-lock interface (something different). The URL that you gave him has fantastic pictures, granted, but it won't help him. Besides, the first line on top states that it's for a 1984. His car is a 1993 like the two I have, and has a shift-lock mechanism that has nothing in common with an '84 (which I also have).
