M-41 failure? 140-160 1974

"As a last resort, can the internals of my M-40 (which is in perfect shape), be transfered into the M-41 (except fot the main shaft)?"

It's possible, it probably helps is the M40 and M41 are near each other in production years. I once tried to spiff up my JY M41 with parts from my PV's M40, but in the end the only thing that actually interchanged was the syncro cones. In my case the layshaft bearings were different, and there were subbtle differences in sizes on the gears on it and the mainshaft. Luckily enough, the only thing I *really* needed to swap were the syncros.
