Really stupid question . . . 700

The 1921 Lancia Lambda was the first car in the world with unitary construction. The 1947 PV 444 was the first unitary Volvo. The 1948 Hudson was the first American unibody. The 1956 Subaru 1500 was the first Japanese one, in addition to being the first Subaru.

While the Crown Vic is the last American CAR to use a separate frame, most large domestic SUVs are still made this way, which in part accounts for their mushy handling.
