Hey folks,
I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about my power driver's seat not functioning correctly in my 1996 964. All three motors are operating, but the right seat fore-aft track seemed stuck while the left moved freely.
I finally got around to pulling the seat today, and I can't find anything visibly wrong with the right seat track. There doesn't appear to be anything stuck between the rack and pinion, and the gear drive connection seems solid enough. the only difference i detect between the two sides of the seat is that the right side seems to have quite a bit more gear grease slathered on.
The only thing I found that didn't belong in the mechanicals was a nickel that appeard to be glued by grime to one of the parts NEAR the rack pinion, but it wasn't near any of the moving parts.
Is it possible that in my wrestling the seat out, I dislodged whatever was stuck in the seat gears?
I really hope that it isn't something more serious, like the worm gear drives (or what appear to be so) being somehow messed up.
Please get back with me ASAP, if possible! I'm going to try putting the seat in place and hitting the switches to see if it's freed up, but if that doesn't work, I'm not sure where to go from there!
Thanks in advance!
