Battery draining problems 200 1989

Rod:

20mA is perfectly normal, most cars fall in the 10 to 50mA drain rate depending on what radio, remote keyless entry, and ECU. 20mA is somewhat of a target that automotive designers try to hit or stay under. At that drain rate, a typical battery will still be able to start the car after sitting for 1 to 2 months.
The fuel pump relay supplies power to the ECU as well to maintain the short term calibration data.

In other words, suspect your battery or possibly your alternator. To check the alternator, start the car and measure the voltage across the car, if it is around 13.4 to 13.8V with nothing turned on, your alternator is good.

I am suspecting that you are dealing with a very weak or nearly dead battery. How old is it?

jorrell

hope the above helps!
