I have to agree with sstef - you've probably got a bad wiring harness.

This car is known for the problem. Look for a harness from a newer model or a replacement harness from a junkyard. I think you can use all up through 1988. 89 has a different injection system (LH 2.2 vs. 2.4). Many of the plugs are different.
