Had this happen on an 89 740. Tried the glue route - made a mess. Sold the car. The new owner took dozens of straight pins with round heads - and stuck them in at an angle - in a random pattern that made it look pretty cool, actually. The pins were multi colors, and made it look somewhat like a bunch of stars.
Not as good as replacing professionally - but it worked.
