For sure the starter from a B20 will work. I just pulled it and compared it to my B18 starters. I actually have like 4-5 starters laying around. I have three motors, two B18s and one B20, so I have at least one spare. If you need one I can send it to you cheap.

I dunno about later compatibility. I think my B21 77 245 had a different type of starter, but it's been a long time since I've seen that car. I'm almost positive that the model on a B230 red block is different. But I could be wrong...
