Bushing Replacements 200 1989

hello,
sounds like you don't have a bentley repair manual. highly recommended to get one first before proceeding on, if you're planning to keep your volvo.

yes, more rear bushings; plenty of info in the archives.

also, go look at the fcp groton web page for rear suspension & that will show you all the bushings and bushing options. insist on volvo/oem parts. many have found out the hard way why not to get scan-tech, aftermarket bushings, except maybe for poly bushings. i lean toward rubber, except for the sway and torque rod and panhard bushings.

all the rear bushings need a special tool for proper replacement. many members have innovative ways/tools to replace them, and the bushings have rubber or poly options.

my local volvo mechanic quoted me a price of $500+ complete rear replacement. i told him no thanks, but to be fair, he uses only volvo parts and has a lot of experience.

rear trailing arm bushings (tabs) are just about a must to replace. i recently did mine using boge (oem) instead of poly. less stiff than poly, but planning to use poly on all other rear bushings soon. i can't tell you the improvement in the ride it has made. i should have replaced them about 100k miles back. i've already did the complete front (boge) with ipd sway bars (poly), too.

i suggest using a normal search engine using the search word(s) and add brickboard. the brickboard search engine appears it cannot use more than 1 word in its search.

if you do it yourself, write back for instructions.

regards,
byron golden
