96 960 starter replacement S90-V90

My first thought was the belts or tensioners, but when you started it with hood up, you could hear it coming from the starter area. Also, it would only do it on start up so figured that was issue. It is really tough to get to. Tried twice and finally gave in and sent to independent volvo shop. Not cheap as they don't use rebuilt or aftermarket starters. OEM starter was $326 and two hrs labor--even though it took them almost 3 hrs as he was having problems getting to. Starts great now with no more squealing.
