Thanks, I am partially through the filter change (I have to source an impact wrench) so we will see if that is the case. It needed to be done either way.
When I got the pump end of the filter off A lot of gray, gunky gas came out. I have experienced fuel filter as the cause on my bug.

If that doesn't do it I will go with the relay next.

All I can say is after fighting with the banjo fittings on the filter I hope some Swedish Engineers missed dinner because they couldn't get the lid off some pickeled halibut!
