Everything you need to know about kick-down cable replacement is here in the 700/900 FAQ. You normally don't need to replace the tranny filter unit. It can be a bit of a messy, awkward and tedious job, but certainly within the scope of a DIY project. If fittings are badly frozen (as in stuck) then the project can be a bit of a bear and tender ears may need to be shielded from your four letter word vocabulary. Get the car jacked up as high as you safely can for easiest access and good leverage. Adjustment of the cable is easy, all the notes are in the previous FAQ article.
