got it 700 1990

Congratulations, Andy.
I was stuck for a while on mine back in March. Now I can't recall what the trick was, but I don't think it was the gasket. I agree that much of the FAQ info could use some copy editing, but who has the time? And where to start?

I hope you never have to replace the metal "Pressure Pipe" that connects the pump output flex line to the filter input line. Mine had severe rust at every bend (about 7 in total), finally leaking at one of the lower (but less severe) bends.

The strange thing to me was that the seemingly identical return pipe beside it looked brand-new in comparison. That still baffles me, assuming they were both original.

I rank that Pressure Pipe replacement right up there with the 240 blower motor. At least in terms of time—with full access for pipe replacememnt requiring removal (and replacement) of:

• muffler (cat back was easiest for me)
• rear d-shaft half
• main parking brake cable, which led to:
• center console for cable end fitting, and
• rear seat & thresholds to lift carpet for cable access

Seems like there was more, but the memory is mercifully fading.
