I second the upholstery pins. They have them at Walmart in the sewing section for a couple dollars a package. They have a clear plastic head and they sort of screw in as noted. I 'quilted' the headliner where it rises up after the sunroof in my 91 and it has been fine for quite a while. you would never know unless you look up while seated in the back seat.
