I had a similar issue over the summer with my '86 B230FT. No red manifold but, I couldn't get the timing to line up 100% (i.e. 12 degrees) Had to go in and tweak the timing belt - it was off one tooth and the timing was problematic - after I fixed the timing belt, everything was back to normal. It's worth checking. Doing mine was a PITA ! But, I finally got it right then the car was all set after that.
