i put my spaekers up under the dash, theres plenty of room and they are out of sight,, i also fit a second set under the front seats!! this way you dont have to cut any of the panels to get them in and they are totaly out of sight,, as for the headunit (cd player) rather than have a modern one on view spoiling the dash, or having a period radio that wasnt up to much, i made the chrome plate that covers the radio slot into a drop down hinged piece by gluing small hinges to the bach and bolting them to the dash, (small holes) its kept up by a strong magnet glued behind the chrome flap, then i custom fit the head unit behind the dash so the front is flush with the dash rather than sticking out, it looks and works great,,, you loose a bit of base response from the speakers because they are just in the "air" rather than boxed into a door for instance but its worth it for the luxury of music!!.. i put a base subwoofer in the boot but you dont need one.
