simple fix to frustrating problem 900

After I bought my 97 960, i noticed a not too small leak from the sunroof. After posting my problem here, a number of you offered solutions from spraying silicone on the gasket to carrying a large towel. I decided to take it to a windshield repairman with the idea that I would simply have the sucker sealed. Fortunately, he had had some experience with sunroofs. After asking me a question: "Did the motor work?" "No." he diagnosed my problem. When the motor quit it had not closed the window tight enough. He took off the small panel covering the motor, and tightened the big screw which tightened the sunroof. Voila! No leak. Now I'm getting ambitious and would like to get the sunroof functioning but w/o the high cost of a new motor. Is there anyway to put a crank on where that screw is and manually open the window??
