You could run it from the hot side of the coil with a diode and relay
to the headlight circuit - diode so that the ignition couldn't turn the
lights on.
No, I haven't done it.
Another choice would be to wire the lights (with a relay) so that the
ignition had to be on to turn the lights on. Let the relay carry the
lights' current though. I think that is the way my 2001 S60T5 is.
