Hard to replace Outer Tie Rod End? 700 1990

Hello, Will, listen man, what your going to have to do is have a normal sized butane torch, about a 24mm open end wrench and you should also have in your tool arsenal a 24" long breaker bar and about a 19mm 0.5" drive socket; the 24" breaker bar will be 0.5" drive. Now, once you have these tools the job should go smoothly; heat the sleve of the outer tie rod end up and loosen the lock nut with the 24" open end wrench, then use the same open end to counter clockwise the tie rod end off of the rack; this is done of course after you remove the nineteen inch lock nut from the steering knuckle. For that you'll need the butane torch and a normal sized sledge hammer to bang on top of the old tie rod end once you've loosened the nut, don't remove the nut fully until you've loosened it from the knuckle. One more thing, you'll need a Vice Grip clamp, size large, to clamp the tie rod end to the knuckle so that you can turn the nineteen inch nut loose so the tie rod ball doesn't twist in it's socket.

Once you've got these tools the job should go easily. Good luck, L. D., Chicago, IL
