I have sprayed most brands of automotive topcoats over the years. Once I tried Sikkens, I was finished experimenting. Sikkens acrylic urethane is "Autocryl", and is a single stage catalyzed type. No need to dope it with more hardener, or add a bit of clear, or any of that. Its gloss holdout is excellent - oldest car I sprayed that I still see has a 17 year old Autocryl job and it still looks good.
I will not use Dupont ever, or R&M if they are still in business. BASF is good, but sprays quite a bit differently. PPG is losing market share, although their DP-40 epoxy primer is excellent.
Sikkens is pricey, but compared to the labour to do a great job, it's cheap.
