Help. I just replaced my in-tank pump about a week ago due to a failure. The main pump was replaced about 30,000 miles ago as well. The car was running fine for a week until today. On a short trip back to my house, about 4 miles, the car started to miss and loose power in a big way. I made it home and let the car sit for about 1 hour. I started it up and drove it about 10 miles with no issues. When the car acted up today, the main pump was making a lot of noise. When I drove it tonight, the main pump did not make any unusual noises. I was doing some reading on the FAQ and read the main pump should kick on for about 2 seconds when the key is in position "2" before the car starts. I checked for the pump noise before I started the car and did not hear it. The pump is running though when I start the car, I can hear it. A main pump will work or it won't, correct? Could I have a short in the fuel pump relay? The FPR was replace about 2 years ago with a new Bosch unit. Just an FYI. I am baffled! The car is for sale and I can't get rid of it with this issue. By the way, it is a cherry 1987 745 with 230,000. I am the second owner. Thanks for the help!
