Coolant getting into crank case.

Hi guys,
I hope this isn't the end! There's smokey steam from the crank case orifices and there seems to be a tannish scum on the dipstick. No smoke from exhaust. I really hope that this does not mean a head gasket right now. I am badly financially pinched at the moment. Would re-torqing the head help or hurt? A friend suggested "radiator stop leak". Will this do more harm than good? Any suggestions would really be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch, :(
-Bob A.
