I did what Sil did 120-130 1967

I hacksawed a pair of regular SU filters in half and then used a torch to remove the remaining paper element glued to the endplates. Lots of pyrotechnics so be careful around kids and pets when doing this. ;-)

Then I went to Lowes and got the Kohler filters, some all thread rod, 16 nuts/washers/lockwashers and some aluminum tubing with a diameter big enough to accept the all thread.

Cut the all thread long enough to go through the carb ear, end plates and Kohler filter with 1/2" left over on either end. Cut aluminum tubing long enough to fit between end plates and Kohler filter and subtract thickness of one washer/lockwasher/nut assembly. Be sure to deburr ends of cut metal parts.

Run all thread through carb ear and secure a washer, lock washer and nut on the back side of the ear. Place the bottom end plate on the throat of the carb (with balancing holes aligned with carb) and secure with washer/lock washer/nut. Slide cut aluminum tubing over all thread. Install Kohler filter. Place top plate on top of filter. Secure top plate with washer/lock washer/nut assembly.

Looks good and works great. The only PITA is if you want to get the bottom plate off, then the nut on the inside of the bottom plate must be backed off several inches of all thread.

Best regards,

Joe M in WV
