Revving the motor

Carbie vs FI. When, from idle speed, you go to WOT - what happens?

In the carbie, I assume that like my carbies in Chevvies & Fords, the accelerator pump squirts a significant amount of gas directly into the intake manifold.

The FI, having no such sump and pump, can only quickly speed up the rate of injection. I don't think that puts as much fuel as quickly into the intake system.

Another Volvo B21, B23, B230, Penta(?) cam would need to have higher valve lift which means more metal on the lobes. The interval between intake and exhaust valves is fixed with the casting, though the timing of the cam as a whole can be varied with a changeable drive gear. Someone on TurboBricks might know more about special grind cams.

Good Luck,

Bob
