Re-solder all solder joints on the "motor board". That may cure the issue as it did on ours, however, there is a chance the motor is smoked thanks to being locked up by a bad gear. If the re-solder job doesn't resolve the issue, let me know, I'll find the web-link for the certified VDO gauge shop here in NC, full rebuild, no matter what is around $140.
