I just worked out the mileage of my 780 Turbo car and it came out to 20.3 mp US Gallon. As most of you know, most if not all 780s are automatics. I happen to have an 84 740 Turbo with a 4 speed overdrive transmission in it that is about to be parted out. From past experience, I would expect to get both better performance and better mileage with the standard transmission than the awfulmatic. With the future collect-ability of this model in mind, versus the increase in performance, drivability and driving enjoyment, should I swap out the automatic for the 4 speed?
