Kickdown cable

make certain that the cable needs to be replaced. try lubing it and make sure your trans. is full. my 740 wagon was hanging and shifting very late esp. when cold and it turned out to be low on trans. fluid. topped it off and shifted great. i also let all the slack out of my kickdown - completely removed it from the adjustment mechanism and the car shifts into all gears fine. test the cable by pulling on it and feel for a click as you pull it - good luck
