i went ahead and fit it together again to see if i could get a better appreciation for the problem. it seems as though the torque converter is pinching the flywheel against the engine when i tighten the tranny to engine bolts. when i put the flywheel on the engine there was one little spacer about 1/4 inch wide between the flywheel and crank, then the flywheel, then a washer type thingi and then the bolts. am i missing something?
