'99 V70 XC question

Got a dumb question about a '99 V70 XC catalytic converter.... and not sure if this is the right place for it.

I need to yank the cat. How do I get the flange (front end of the cat, it mates to the turbo) down past the engine 'n firewall?

(This is asked on behalf of a friend.....it's not my car.)
