I'm not familiar with Dan's relay setup, but have done some my own. I'm sure it improves on the stock Low Beam circuit:

From Switch to Hi/Lo relay on fender rail ==>

Then back inside to Bulb Failure Sensor==>

Then our again to each Head Light bulb, via connector plugs.

Lots of potential for resistance, corrosion, and voltage drop.
