Something to try first 200 1986

1. "Electrical power drains when trying to start the car. Volt guage in the dash shows it."
• "Drains" how much? How low on the voltmeter? A two or three volt drop is normal, IMO. The starter draws a LOT of current. I'd be mostly concerned with #2 for now -- fix that first.

2. "Car won't start right up, has to be turned over 20+ times to start, and it starts on the downswing, not when cranking which = no spark from coil until key is released from crank position."

• Assuming the coil is starved for voltage until the key is released, I would try connecting a jumper wire from battery + directly to coil termimal 15 (where the blue wire is). If it starts with the jumper in place, we can test for voltage loss in the normal circuit path to coil 15.

If the jumper doesn't help the long cranking, post back and we can look elsewhere. Do you have a meter? Sears has a nice little Digital meter for about $20.
