Hello,

If you mean the chrome upper half of the shifter, it should be able to twist, but it should not be easy.

There are rubber bushings inside the shifter handle and if they are old, the handle can twist more easily.

I should have both the upper and lower shifter handle bushings in stock.

BTW, a 1965 Lincoln Continental is the reason I got involved with my first Volvo. Back in 1977, when the timing chain on my old Lincoln broke, I got involved with my first 122.
