Not vapor lock! 700

Not an expert but a tach dropping to zero sounds like an ignition issue. Rear mounted Dist. W/Hall sensor is one suspect, internal oil leakage can deteriorate the Hall sensor wires, oil will conduct current to ground.

I always carry many spare electrical parts, go to a P and P, then test them when the car is running good so you know you have a good part. When problems start swap in one part at a time to see what works. This is about the best choice you have on cars W/O OBD?
