The other posting was different in that his compressor was running when the system went warm. Are you certain that you are getting power the square unit you mentioned when the compressor quits? I've seen something like it on an earlier Diesel-Kiki/Zexel compressor but it was nothing more than a radio suppressor.
As for the "progressive 3 stage pressure switch" on the condensor... it's a one-stage high-limit cutout (all R-134a system must have it) + a low-fan control (10 bar / 150 PSI) and a high-fan control [overrides low speed] (16 bar / 240 PSI).
It is more likely that your high side is exceeding 20 bar (300 PSI) and cutting of the compressor to avoid discharging refrigerant. A 50deg F temperature drop is pretty impressive - I'm guessing that your system may have been overcharged.
