When the top & bottom ball joints are perpendicular to the road when viewed from the side, that is zero caster.

When the top ball joint is rearward of the bottom ball joint, that is positive caster.
When the top ball joint is forward, that is negative caster.

More caster makes the steering heavier, but helps when going around corners, so it's a matter of personal preference how much caster you want.
