I just replaced the alt. bushings today on my '91 and there was a large washer between the front bushing and the alternator that was necessary for proper alignment. Don't know if that will be the case for you, but keep track of what comes out when you pop the old bushings.

Definitely pull the splash pan and do this from underneath the car.
