They like advance, lots of it. Rather than tell you a certain timing measurement, I'd suggest you just do a little experimenting. Motors change over time, driving conditions change, the weather changes, the gasoline quality changes. All making canned timing settings less than optimal. In general terms, I've always had luck just advancing the timing until you get some light pinging, then retarding it slightly.
Of course, if your motor is worn and low on compression, it's possible to advance it too far and start reducing power again, without it ever pinging. But generall speaking, advancing until pinging, then backing off slightly will give good results.
