Sounds like your OD isn't engaging. If it's an auto trans, push the button on the side of the shifter at 60mph, if your revvs don't jump up, there's a problem with your OD. If there IS a change in revvs... there's a problem elsewhere.

Our 740 (automatic) and 240 (stickshift) are both at a hair over 2500 RPM at 70mph.
