On any 240 1989 or later, if there's an intermittent no-start problem, we often suspect the crank position sensor. Look it up in the FAQ at

If it's the original one with yellow label on the cable, it's due for replacement. If the cable is frayed or otherwise visibly damaged, it's likewise due for replacement.
Yes, it could be a fuel pump relay/ECU problem as described by lucid.
I'd check on that as well.
