S-K is good quality. Easily comparable to Craftsman, if not better. While the finish is not the greatest on some of the older tools, others are almost as nice as Snap-on. All of them are rugged and well made, however they look. The ratchets have a nice positive action.
The name comes from the founders of the company, S....... and K........ (I forget the actual names) Older tools are sometimes marked S-K Wayne, which I think is for the town in Ohio (?) where they were made. About 10 years ago, the S-K company was bought out by Facom, a French tool manufacturer. Thankfully, quality does not seem to have suffered as a result, but I don't know if any of them are U.S. made any more, if that matters to you.
Sears has a number of S-K tools available, including a nice set of long handle ratcheting double box-ends (0943701) 6 wrenches that include all sizes 8 to 19 mm. Unfortunately, it is $179.99 regular price. They also offer a set with 21 X 22 and 24 X 27, for $99.99 for the pair. Also a set of ratcheting combination wrenches, with spline drive on the box ends, 8-19 mm, with all sizes in between, for $159.99 (0942287)
