Trichard has a good idea to check universal joints. BTW your car has three.
Here's what I do if I suspect a U-joint problem:
Get to a place where you can hear the noises. For me that is the driveway behind a commercial building like a grocery store or a mall. Get close, like 3 feet away. Window down, engine running at idle, foot on brake.
Move shifter to "R", then to "D", then to "R" then to "D". If there is slack in the drive train, usually in the U-joints, it will be all on one side of the bearings, shifting to the other gear moves the slack to the opposite side, usually with a "clunk." Often you can tell by listening which U-joint is at fault. If it is the U-joints, to them all at the same time.
Try this test and post back.
Good Luck,
Bob
