1) Always put your car's YEAR up there with model. Use the drop-down menu provided. You can get a lot of mixed messages if the year isn't known. (I gussed 1989 here. First year for Check Engine Light.)
2) A Check Engine Light means there is a code stored in either the FI or Ignition ECU (maybe more than one code). The 700/900 FAC (same B230 engine as your 240) has instructions for reading and resetting On Board Diagnostic (OBD-I) codes. So does the Bentley 240 manual—highly recommended, but getting hard to find these days.)
Access the 700/900 FAQ by using the --select shortcut-- menu (under FEATURES) at the top right corner of the screen.
