Possible Starter Problem 1989 740 700 1989

Well here is an update of the situation. We took the starter out and went in to Autozone to have it tested. It failed. So we got a rebuilt one and installed it. Lo and behold the car turned on the first time i tried after I replacing the started. I turned it off and a few minutes later tried again, this time the car didn't turn on and the clicking noise was back. Now it is more rapid but just continues to click. I thought the battery might be dead so we took it in and had it tested. Not only was it dead but it wouldn't hold a charge. So we bought a new battery and installed it. Still nothing but the clicking. I am so confused now because it started once after putting in the new starter but that's it. Any possible ideas? I need help!
