That seems to be the standard split, especially on the later dashes. I've found several '92+ dashes like that, except they also had the "bubble" where the fake speaker hole used to be. I bought one and used a small incision and a heat gun to remove the bubble and it's been waiting in my attic for a year now to go into the car.
