Sunroof failure mode question. 700 1987

I just did my sunroof a few days ago. It was a complete overhaul since mine stuck closed with the rear passenger corner sticking lower than the roof. There was no other way to get it to the vent position to unclip the sunroof liner in order to access the machenisms. I have to take the ceiling (headboard) off, take the entire sunroof out as one unit. My problem was the drive cable (worm) on the passenger side broke away from the slider (the slider is made of some kind of soft metal or alloy). I replaced the cable and it works like a charm. Hopefully, yours is not this bad. Put the sunroof on the complete open position (slide it all the way in either by pushing the button or with a big flat screwdriver to turn it manually. Take the motor off. With the motor off the sunroof, push the button to turn the motor to the open position. Reinstall the motor and try the operation of the sunroof. If you have to access the interior parts, mechanism of the sunroof, there are some references on the net or just send me an email, I’ll try to help you. Erwin
