Why put in a used one ? From Volvo dealer they are pretty cheap. If I recall last year I bought one for under $10. Pick & pull might try to charge you as much as $5. I do not believe use of trip meter is cause of odometer/tripmeter breaking. Rather problem is that darn gear that needs replacing and would whether you reset tripmeter or not. A trick which I read here is to bend the metal piece which pushes back the reset button so as it is not that strong. Other thing is to push it in gently and let up once it has reset. Good luck.
