No Start after changing taillight 700 1987

Probably just coincidence. You have the 2pump system, intank pump and main pump vicinity under frame drivers seat. Car will run without the intank pump, but not the main. When you attempt a start and then stop, when you release the key, you should hear the main pump whirl for a sec or 2.
