I think we're going to need more information on this one. You can't skip a tooth on the B18/B20 unless you shred the gears - it is a gear drive cam, no belts on this engine that aren't running a water pump or generator/alternator. Sounds to me like you may be getting a lean condition for some reason (has it got SU's?).

Can the distributor gear fail and cause these problms...George, Phil and others will know.
