Someone else can correct me on the model year, but I believe it was '76 and '77 that had a different strut assy. I had an '84 with a '77 strut assy. on it. So it worked, but it was definitely different.

Inspect the spring seat of the new used strut for corrosion. Reject any that have significant rot. That's where they fail, leaving your spring rubbing on the tire.
