88 240 battery terminals: pos on which side?

On my '86 the neg is inboard and the pos is next to the fender. I think it's always been that way. I would rather it be the other way around for safety reasons. The cables just fit the way it is.

Maybe I'll build some cables and turn the battery around when I get a round tuit.
